How We HelpSafe Harbour (Crisis Prevention Service)
  • Safe Harbour

  • A mental health crisis prevention service in Epsom available by clinical referrals only.

  • What is Safe Harbour?

Funded by Surrey County Council’s Mental Health Investment Fund, Safe Harbour offers a six-week rolling programme which aims to reduce the frequency and severity of mental health crises and provide clients with alternative strategies to prevent visits to emergency services and hospital admissions.

Safe Harbour is a non-clinical daytime service, available by clinical referral only. It focuses on prevention, intervention and action planning.

  • What We Do

Safe Harbour aims to provide a holistic approach to self-care, wellbeing and managing mental health. We understand that each one of our clients’ needs are individual. We want to help our clients set goals that are right for them to move forward which is why we discuss a tailored plan at the start of their programme.

We are a friendly and approachable team. We check in with our clients daily, via text, phone call or face-to-face at the Brickfield Centre in Epsom. Our clients can attend face-to-face drop-in sessions every day and also attend our group recovery workshops multiple times a week.

Recovery workshops cover a wide breadth of topics on managing crisis, building resilience, as well as improving self-esteem and self-compassion. We aim to equip our clients with the tools and skills they need to enable change. In addition to this, clients have one-on-one sessions with us, where we work on their individual plans, cover specific topics and signpost to other appropriate services.

  • Who Is Safe Harbour For?

We accept referrals for clients who are over 18 years old and living in Surrey. Eligible clients will have been identified by relevant agencies as requiring ongoing support in preventing crisis escalation and are not requiring urgent clinical intervention or hospital admission.

The aim of the service is to support clients to reduce hospital admissions, GP appointments regarding mental health, use of Blue Light services and visits to emergency services.

Unfortunately, we are unable to support people who require immediate clinical treatment or hospitalisation, or anyone who is high risk to themselves or others, and anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of their support.

This does not necessarily exclude clients who are receiving clinical treatment elsewhere so please contact us to discuss this further.
